Keringa has a family heritage spanning back four generations of mixed farming in the South Australian Mallee near Lameroo.

Keringa Angus was founded in 2008 by Trent Walker with the support of his parents Kerry and Alison Walker.

Trent invested in embryos from Bull Oak Well Angus stud of Pinnaroo South Australia along with quality female lines from herd dispersals, showing a keen eye for the maternal Angus cow.  This keen eye was the result of teachings from his showing days and mentors he met throughout the cattle industry.

Trent has a passion for breeding “true to type” Angus cattle focusing on phenotype and soundness of structure to see longevity and consistent production of both bulls and cows bred, with a huge emphasis on the female herd.

Behind every bull is a top female.

In 2018 Trent purchased most of the Millah Murrah Angus Spring herd with the intention to bring these cows into the Keringa Herd. However, it was negotiated and agreed these heifers and cows would go on to continue breeding bulls and cows in an ongoing partnership with Millah Murrah. This Partnership was struck due to Trent’s knowledge of the cattle pedigree and a similar eye for the type of cattle Millah Murrah are breeding.

Although the Millah Murrah cows did not enter the Keringa Herd, the breeding partnership opened a battery of sires to be utilised on the Keringa herd to accelerate the Keringa herd forward. The two stud herds are physically run side by side in the paddocks spread over four different properties located between Culburra (South) and Lameroo (North).

At Keringa we strive to run the herd as close to commercial conditions as possible. This means high stocking rates with no supplement grain feeding. Our bulls are deliberately grown out slowly to be of working condition at point of sale. We believe this increases their longevity and working life for you in your operation, maximising your return on investment.
